The balance at the door: the second half, on arrival

The balance is the part of the fee still owed when she arrives. On a booking with a deposit, it is the second half. Why on arrival, not at the end

Settling it at the start leaves nothing practical hanging over the rest of the evening. Nobody has to break off at the end to count notes or look for a card, and when the time is up, she simply gathers her things and goes.

How it can be paid

Cash in euros is simplest. Cash in another major currency is welcome too: pounds, dollars, Swiss francs and so on. The condition is that the exact sum in that currency is confirmed to you in writing in the thread before she sets out, so that there is no conversion to argue about at the door. Say which currency you would like to use when you book, and the reply will give the figure.

Having it ready

Put the balance aside before she arrives, in notes and as close to the exact sum as you can. Some guests leave it in an envelope on the table by the door, next to the document they may be asked to show. The whole moment then takes seconds.

What is never added

Nothing for the evening, the weekend or the journey across central Amsterdam, and nothing for paying in another currency beyond the sum you were given. If the visit ends early

The balance for the time reserved stays due whether the visit runs its full length or ends sooner, whoever ends it, and nothing is added to it.
