Paying the Balance in Pounds, Dollars or Francs in Amsterdam
The deposit goes in euros, by card or app. The balance can be paid in cash in another major currency, with the exact figure confirmed in writing first.

Guests over fifty often travel with cash in more than one currency. A few notes left over from the last trip, a wallet of pounds or dollars brought on principle, Swiss francs from a stop on the way. The question of whether any of it can be used comes up regularly in the thread, and the answer is yes, with one condition.
Every figure starts in euros
All the rates on this site are euro rates. One guest with one therapist is 180 euros for an hour, 270 for ninety minutes, 360 for two hours, 540 for three and 1,250 for the eight hour overnight. Couples and two therapist bookings are set out beside those on every profile on the roster. The deposit, where one is due, is half of the relevant figure, and it is always paid in euros.
The deposit: card, Revolut, Wise or crypto
The deposit is paid before she sets out, so it cannot be cash. Card is what most guests use. Revolut and Wise are accepted for those who carry them, and so is cryptocurrency. Neither bank transfer nor PayPal plays any part. The amount and the way to pay it appear in the booking thread once the hour is agreed, and nowhere else.
If your card is issued in another currency, your bank handles the conversion as it would for any purchase abroad. The booking itself stays priced in euros from start to finish.
The balance: cash in another currency is welcome
The second half of the fee is paid on arrival, and here the choice widens. Euros in cash are simplest. Cash in another major currency, such as pounds, dollars or Swiss francs, is welcome as well. The condition is that the exact sum in that currency is confirmed to you in writing, in the thread, before she sets out. That way there is no conversion to work out at the door, no rounding to argue about and no surprise.
Say in the thread which currency you would like to use, and the reply will give the exact amount. Have it ready in an envelope or folded apart from the rest of your cash, so that the moment at the door takes seconds rather than minutes.
Notes, not coins, and close to the sum
Have the balance in notes, and as near to the exact figure as you can manage. She may not carry change in pounds or francs, and nobody wants the arrival to end with coins being counted on the edge of a bed. If the confirmed sum in your currency does not divide neatly into the notes you hold, say so in the thread before she sets out, and the balance can be settled in a way that suits both sides, often partly in euros. The aim is a moment at the door that takes seconds.
Why the sum is fixed in writing
Exchange rates move, and different people use different ones. A figure agreed in writing beforehand removes every possible disagreement about which rate was meant. It also gives you the chance to decide, before the evening, whether the currency you have is the one you want to spend; some guests find the euro figure simpler after all and stop at a cash machine.
What is never added
Nothing is added for paying in another currency beyond the exact sum you were given. Nothing is added for the evening, the weekend or the journey to your door in central Amsterdam. The figure you confirmed is the figure you pay. If you change your mind about the currency on the day, say so before she sets out, and the thread will confirm a new sum.
A returning guest, the same day
A guest the house has looked after before, booking one or two hours later the same day at an address in the city, pays nothing in advance. The whole fee is paid on arrival, and the same choice applies: euros, or another major currency with the sum confirmed in writing first. A longer booking, a second therapist, an airport hotel or a peak date brings the deposit back, in euros, by card or app.
If a booking is cancelled
Deposits are returned the way they were paid, in euros. The notice scale is set out in the booking terms: the whole deposit back with more than twenty-four hours of notice, half back inside the last day before she has left, and none once she is on her way unless the hour is taken by someone else. Cash for the balance, of course, never changes hands on a cancelled booking.
